Wangari Maathai on the Greenbelt Movement
When the Nobel Committee awarded Wangari Maathai the Nobel Peace Prize in 2004, they acknowledged the vital link between sustainable development, care of the envrionment, and peace.
By organizing women on a grassroots level in Kenya and beyond, Wangari and her women planted more than 30 million trees.
